About Lotus Outreach

Lotus Outreach began in 1993 in Northern India, when a Tibetan lama, Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche, followed Buddha’s advice to look beyond the walls of his own monastery to the concerns of others. Seeing a great number of children without access to basic health care and education, Rinpoche and his students created a non-religious organisation to serve these children, their families, and communities. Now a registered nonprofit with programmes in India, Bhutan, and Cambodia, Lotus Outreach maintains our focused commitment to helping however we can.

Lotus Outreach uses a hands-on approach in the communities they serve. Every dollar received is used to educate youth & build sustainable community programmes. Lotus Outreach’s programmes have spread seeds of positive change to homeless boys & girls in Delhi slums, children of trafficking in S. E. Asia & low-income rural families in Bhutan. By partnering with small non-governmental organisations, leveraging community resources & employing a large volunteer base, Lotus Outreach’s targeted initiatives continue to help change the lives of children & support strong, sustainable community programmes.
